Entering 4th - 5th Graders: Summer Reading Skills

Select a different age group:

Independent Reading

Students read and discuss two classic children's novels over the course of the program. As a result, your child will read more fluently and rapidly, develop stronger reading comprehension, and become more deeply absorbed in stories. The experience of being completely absorbed in stories provides the basis for a lifelong love of reading and is the foundation for future academic success.

Parents receive guidance for helping their child choose excellent books after the program is over. You'll receive a Reading Development Booklist with great books organized by level of difficulty, and an individualized Book-Level Recommendation to help you and your child select books at the right level throughout the upcoming year.
