Why is Love of Reading Important?

Learning to read is hard work.  Children who enjoy reading are more motivated and confident about facing this task.

They learn to read more quickly and easily, with a minimum of frustration.  This program will lay the foundation for your child’s lifelong love of reading.

How Does this Program Build a Love of Reading?

In each class, the teacher reads a great children’s picture book aloud and discusses the story. Parents and children participate in enrichment activities, such as dramatization or writing, that deepen a child’s engagement with books. You will also receive a Reading Development Booklist with sections summarizing hundreds of great children’s books for reading aloud throughout the upcoming year.

In addition, the decoding skills your child acquires in this program contribute to a love of reading. A child who is able to read words easily and confidently enjoys reading and is motivated to read more.
